Oakland Leaf

Oakland Leaf's mission is to cultivate community transformation through creative education for youth and families. Our approach, based on principles of youth development and family empowerment, weaves together five initiatives which correlate to the challenges, needs, and opportunities in our community: 1) STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math), 2) Literacy, 3) Art and Culture, 4) Health & Wellness, and 5) Empowerment & Leadership. We run six comprehensive after-school programs for elementary and middle school students, a wrap-around family resource center, a high school leadership and media arts program, a school-based community garden and ecology program, an All Oakland Youth Talent Showcase, a three week arts and social justice education summer camp, and a youth internship program. We currently work in seven OUSD public schools: ASCEND, Bret Harte, EnCompass, Fremont High School, International Community School, Learning Without Limits, and Think College Now.
